Hilary J Francis with Artwork by (the late) David

Over thirty years ago Hilary and her late husband David bought an old barn with outbuildings and land and worked together to convert these into residential units which subsidise the organic smallholding they set up. They planted a wood and orchard to share with the wildlife and the residents. Hilary’s love of nature inspired her to grow herbs, flowers, vegetables and fruit in harmony with one another.

When Hilary and David first met they said they wanted to create mystical children’s books and this is what they did with Sing Nature’s Song.

David painted all the pictures when he was very ill which in itself is very inspirational and Hilary wrote this delightful story around David’s paintings.

David drew on his Irish heritage capturing absolute magic in each painting which tells a story of teamwork, courage, determination and trust of the little people.

Hilary continues to honour David’s legacy with her work on the smallholding and support to the community they created together.

Sing Nature's Song is published by Great Barn Publishing which is working in partnership with Winterbone Publishing.
